PHAGWARA: A Punjab court on Thursday remanded Khalistan Liberation Force terrorist Jabir Singh Syan wanted under TADA and extradited from Canada in police custody for two days.
Jasbir Singh alias Seera was arrested in Vancouver on November 26 and sent to Delhi under the India-Canada Extradition Treaty. He was produced before a judicial magistrate who sent him on police remand. A fresh case charging him with sedition was made out against Seera, who is wanted in several murder cases, after he raised pro-Khalistan slogans while being brought to court under heavy police escort. The FIR was registered under section 124 A of IPC on the complaint of Sadar SHO Amrik Singh Chahal. There are several cases against the KLF militant under the now disbanded Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (prevention) Act and various sections of IPC. Seera was brought here from Delhi last night by a team headed by Bhupinder Singh of the Punjab police special cell. He was married and has a four year son born in Canada. His wife has taken divorce from him. |
