PATIALA: Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) President Simranjit Singh Mann Friday hailed Shiromani Gurdawara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) for installing the portrait of late Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala in Sikh museum inside the Golden Temple complex at Amritsar. He described Sant Bhindrawala, the hero of Sikh community.
Mann questioned the grounds that could justify grant of red beacons and security cover for the members of the SGPC, and said that the move could provoke the religious leaders of different sects to demand the same privileges for themselves. Attacking the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Mann said that recent move would create a gap between the preachers and the common masses. He said that preachers would now differentiate themselves from the general masses and this is likely to create hurdles rather then helping the process of `dharm parchar' While, lashing out at the Akali legislators in the state cabinet, Mann said that they lacked the political will to make themselves heard in the state. He said that none of the ministers, other then those close to Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Badal, had any say in the functioning of the government. He said that these legislators were letting Sukhbir prevail upon them. |
