PATIALA: Shiv Sena Hindustan President Pawan Kumar Gupta Friday alleged that Punjab government has withdrawn his security cover following due to his opposition to installing portrait of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala in Sikh Museum in Golden Temple Complex at Amritsar.
Pawan Kumar had issued a statement in the press stating that installing of Bhindrawala's portrait on the premise of golden temple was not in the best interest of the state and it could vitiate the atmosphere. Hari Singla, general secretary of the Hindu organization which was opposing the SGPC's move, said that the government through a missive sent by ADGP securities to the Patiala SSP had ordered the withdrawal of the security cover with immediate effect. He said that on one hand the state government was granting red beacons and security guards to the SGPC members and on the other hand it was withdrawing the security of leaders of other organizations. He demanded that the government should revoke the withdrawal orders immediately or else the organization would be left with no other option but to launch a stir against the indifferent attitude of the government towards the leaders of their organisation. SSP Patiala SK asthana did not attend the repeated calls. |
