ATTARI(Amritsar) : The Sikh Jatha of more than 3800 Sikh devotees including two dead bodies besides five injured persons retuned to India after paying obeisance at the various Sikh shrines in Pakistan. Sikh devotees travelled on the Samjhauta Express Train running between Wagha and Attari railways stations across the border.
Two women devotees had died in Pakistan due to heart attack. Their dead bodies were also brought in the train. Deceased were identified as Gurcharan Kaur wife of Baghel Singh, resident of Patiala district and another lady was Gurbax Kaur wife of Sardool Singh from Barmula of Jammu and Kashmir. Five injured Sikh devotees who got injuries during road accident in Pakistan were provided ambulance by the SGPC (Shriomani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee) at the Attari Railway Station. Sikh devotee Kulwant Kaur expressing her anguish over the Pakistan Government said that there was no adequate accommodation arrangement was made by the Pakistan Government during their stay at Lahore besides poor food arrangement. Another devotee Joginder Singh said there was very poor system of Custom and Immigration due to lack of staff strength at Pakistan during their departure to India. Talking about the security of the Sikh devotee Sikh devotee Rajinder Singh said that Pakistan Government had already made elaborate security arrangement for the Sikhs even Sikh shrine where the Sikhs stayed were highly guarded by the commandos of Pakistan police. The group of Sikh devotes went to Pakistan through train on November 21 to observe the birth anniversary of founder of Sikhism and first Sikh Guru (master) Nanak Dev. Every year group of Sikh devotees went to Pakistan from India to observe the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Even Sikhs from America, England, Canada, Switzerland and other countries assemble in Pakistan for this religious point of view. During their stay in Pakistan Sikh devotees visited different Sikh shrines in Pakistan and assembled at Gurdwara Nanakana Sahib on November 24 to observe the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. |
