CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal(Amritsar) led by Simranjit Singh Mann on Friday levelled serious allegations of corrupt practices against Daljit Singh Bittu who on Friday appointed himself Chairman of the party presidium through a resolution passed at Alamgir Sikh convention, convened by him.

The senior leaders of SAD(Amritsar) loyal to Mann said in Chandigarh that Bittu and his relative another former terrorist Gursharan Singh Gama owned a big farm house near Nurpur Bedi in Ananadpur Sahib sub division of Ropar district. They also claimed that Bittu also owned properties worth crores in Delhi and Uttar Pardesh. The properties are registered in names of their wifes and children.

Addressing a press conference at Press club here Prof.Mohinderpal Singh General Secretary of SAD(Amritsar) said that Bittu and Gamm had puchased farm house with the money looted from Ludhina Bank robbery. He claimed that CBI has even fixed notice on the land records of that property stating that this property was purchased by robbery money and cant be sold till pendancy of the case.

The SAD leaders accomapnied by Imaan Singh Mann son of Simranjit Singh Mann alleged that despite the fact that CBI has imposed ban on the sale of farm house, Gamma is living at the farm house and receiving 'theka' of the crop from that land. Imman Singh Mann added that it was not possible that a person can harvest disputed land without the consent of ruling party. He alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was backing Bittu and his accomplices.

Mann alleged that even during militancy Bittu had played in the hands of intelligence agencies. He said that he was misuisng the money raised in the name of Sikh struggle and Sikh martyrs. He claimed that Bittu was taken into party since he had remained in jail for 12 years and it was expected that he might have changed his ways. He alleged that Bittu started sabotaging party withinine month of joining it.

Gursewak Singh another General Secretary of SAD(Amritsar) alleged that Bittu had formed parallel panthic committe to that of Manochahal in 1986 which had decalred Khalistan. He said that within days all the members of panthic committee headed by Manochahal were killed by police and Bittu's nominees are still alive. Bittu's committee was headed by Dr.Sohan Singh who is considered father of militancy and finally surrenderd at Mohali ina dramatic way. He said that it should be anough evidence to show Bittu's involvement with state agencies.

The SAD(Amritsar) leaders said that they had no faith in state, center governments or CBI and they wanted media to highlight the facts of this case. They wanted to know from where Bittu and Gamma have earned money to buy properties. They said that innocent youth was killed for Sikh home land and these people are enjoying their life.
