CHANDIGARH: Senior BJP Leader and Medical Education & Forest Minister, Punjab  Tikshan Sud today demanded that the  Simaranjit Singh Mann, President, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) be booked for sedition for hurting the feelings of every citizen of this country by calling Shaheed Bhagat Singh, a petty terrorist.

In a statement issued here Monday, the BJP leader said that it was unfortunate that person like Mann was being allowed to roam free and make such provocative statements. He said that Mann should understand that freedom of speech under the garb of which Mann was making these statements was granted to every citizen of this country due to ultimate sacrifice made by Bhagat Singh . He said that Mann should be thankful to our martyr Shaheed Bhagat Singh who gave his life so that we could all breathe in freedom and enjoy all fundamental rights including right to speech.

Sud said that by denigrating  the National Hero Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the SAD(A) President has shown his moral as well as intellectual bankruptcy by making provocative statements just to garner cheap publicity. He said that Nation would always remain indebted to all those known and unknown freedom fighters who gave their life for the freedom of the country.

Giving a call of social boycott of SAD(A) President, Sud said that every citizen of the country rising above the petty political lines should socially boycott Simran Singh Mann who has dared to call our National Hero as a petty terrorist. He said that Mann seems to have lost his mental balance and a jail or mental asylum was the right habitat for so called publicity hungry person like Mann.

The BJP Leader said that it was unfortunate that .Mann has deliberately chosen to make statement in the year of Birth Centenary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, when the every citizen of this country was participating in yearlong campaign to pay tributes to him.

Sud said that it was because of provocative statements of Mann and his open links with anti national terrorists, Punjab had to suffer for a decade during which period 25 thousands innocent lives were lost. .Sud said that Mann who was always regarded as security threat to the nation should not be allowed to tarnish the image of our National Hero and should be put behind the bars. Sud said that he was hopeful that judiciary of this country would soon take cognigence of utterances of r.Mann and would book him for sedition.
