White Ribbon campaign launched at Gian Sagar Medical college Print E-mail

BANUR(Patiala): The White Ribbon Campaign was Thursday launched in India during the 6th Annual Conference of Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine which , organized at Gian Sagar Medical College Ram Nagar Banur.

This campaign is to stop the violence against women by dedicated group of men. At the inaugural Function, all the dignitaries and delegates pledged never to commit or condone violence against women.

Dr. Gurjeet Singh Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law while inaugurating the conference emphasized that there are misconceptions and undue fears in the mind of doctors about law. "No law is going to harm an honest, competent, knowledgeable and honest doctor."

Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Vice chairman and  Harnam Singh President of the Gian Sagar Charitable and Educational Trust stressed the need to provide the educational institutions to the society with highest standards so that our students can take on the global challenge.

Dr.AS Sekhon, Principal of Gian Sagar Medical College, all the delegates will greatly benefit from the deliberations of the conference as important topics are being discussed in this conference and CME.

 Dr. BD Gupta Former President of Indian Academy of Forensic said that the doctors  fall in to the trap of medical negligence and this can be avoided by keeping their knowledge update and following the established procedures and practices and taking care of the patients sincerely.

Dr. SK Verma professor of Forensic Medicine at University College of Medical Sciences New Delhi elaborated on the use of computers and its benefits to the investigating police officials and the society.

Professor RK Gorea President IAFM and Dr.Dalbir Singh Head of Forensic at PGI stressed the role of consent from the patients and advised the doctors that to avoid conflicts with the patients. They must explain everything to the patients including the risks of the operations and procedures and should never guarantee the outcome of the procedures.

AS Katari Chairman Permanent Lok Adalat pledged his support to the campaign to end violence against women.
