Punjab govt prepares comprehensive policy for nursing colleges Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has decided to come out with comprehensive policy for allowing new nursing colleges in the State and State Government would not process any file of new nursing institution hence forth till the new policy was drafted and approved at competent level.

Disclosing this here Thursday Tikshan Sud Medical Education and Research Minister said that Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration has been assigned the task for conducting  a study about the requirements of Nursing courses namely ANM, GNM, BSc Nursing, BSc (Post Basic), MSc. Nursing and Physiotherapy etc so that new policy could be drafted according to the new requirements . He said that the study would also concentrate the requirement of trained Nurses in Punjab and also study the pattern of absorption of Nurses in Punjab, out side Punjab and foreign countries. The Minister said that the Institute has been asked to suggest, the requirement in each district, keeping in view the education standard that will provide institutional support for running these medical institutions.

Sud said that the Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Parkash Singh Badal had suggested to come out with a futuristic and broad based policy on nursing colleges to increase employment of unemployed girls in the nursing profession.
