CHANDIGARH: National Capital Region Planning Board has approved a new project of about Rs. 190 crore for the augmentation of water supply in nine towns of Haryana falling in the National Capital Region (NCR).
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the towns for which this project had been approved included Rewari, Ganaur, Bahadurgarh, Beri, Kalanaur, Kharkhoda, Meham and Sampla. The project would also augment the water supply of village Kosli, Bhakli and Railway station area of Kosli of district Rewari and extension of sewerage in six towns namely Bahadurgarh, Bawal, Beri, Kalanaur, Meham and Sampla and one village Kosli of Haryana falling in NCR. He said that the work on another project of Rs 71.54 crore was almost complete which was earlier approved by NCR Planning Board for improvement and extension of water supply and sewerage in five towns, namely, Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Rewari and Gurgaon. The NCR Planning Board provides loan to the extent of 75 per cent of the Project estimated cost whereas 25 per cent cost of the Project was being shared by State Government. The spokesman said that another project of about Rs 16 crore for improvement and extension of water supply and sewerage in Hisar, being a counter magnet town (under NCR), would likely to be completed by March 31, 2008. He said that a project costing Rs 187.77 crore for the improvement and extension of water supply in five towns namely, Rohtak, Rewari, Sohana, Palwal and Hodel and sewerage in eight towns, namely, Rohtak, Rewari, Palwal, Sohna, Samalkha, Panipat, Gohana and Hodel had been approved in February, 2006 by NCR Planning Board. The funds of Rs 68.80 crore had been released and work on the scheme was in progress. He said that as many as 52 towns of the state had been covered with skelton sewerage facilities. During the current financial year, the outlay for the extension of sewerage facilities had been substantially increased to Rs. 65.50 crore. Against its provision, the work of Sewage Treatment Plant at Jind, Narwana and Kaithal had been taken in hand besides accelerating the pace of work of laying sewerage system in various towns. He said that the funds of Rs. 7 crore had been released by the Revenue Department for providing storm water drainage system during the current financial year. These funds had been allocated to the towns of Ambala City, Ambala Cantt., Bhiwani, Pundri, Rewari, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Hisar, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra,Narnaul, Sonipat and Gohana, he added. |
