Haryana Governor exhorts media to help in country's prosperity Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Governor Dr. A.R.Kidwai Sunday exhorted the journalists to properly utilise their capability and
contribute their mite to usher a new era of  prosperity in the country.

Dr. Kidwai was addressing the media persons at the annual function organised by 'Haryana Patarkar Kalyan Manch' at Senate Hall of Kurukshetra University.

The Governor said that country had made rapid progress in the age of globalisation and hence the responsibility of the media persons had also increased substantially. He reminded that  the country would become third economic power of the world by 2020 if  the growth rate of the country remain 9.5 percent. While referring journalists as the fourth pillar of the democracy, the Governor said that the journalists could work as a bridge between the Government and the people.

Dr. Kidwai urged the youth that they should  work unitedly for the progress of the country without the caste, creed, religion and political considerations. While referring to the progress of Haryana, he said that Haryana was fulfilling 55 percent requirement of cars of the country, 30 percent tractors and 60 percent two wheelers were also being manufactured besides 80 percent rice was also being exported from the state.   He said that the country was fulfilling 65 percent needs of the world in the IT sector.

He said that Haryana Government had given a number of facilities to the journalists and assured that Government would  remain committed for their welfare in future also.

Political Advisor to Chief Minister Prof. Virender Singh said that journalism was a profession of dignity and responsibility. He lauded the role of the press for highlighting human interest stories and injustice to common man. Various awards had been announced by theState Government to encourage the budding journalists.

The President of Jai Ram Vidhyapeeth, Brahmsawroop Brahmchari said that the pen of journalists was mightier than the sword. He urged them that they should fulfill their responsibility in a sincere way.
 
Director, Mass Communication and Information Technology Department, Kurukshetra University, B.K.Kuthiala said that a revolution had ushered in media and the future of the media was very bright.

While welcoming the guests the President of 'Haryana Patarkar Kalyan Manch'  Pawan Ashri said that the amount of the insurance policy had been increased to  Rs. 6 Lakh from Rs.5 lakh from the next year for the members of the Manch. The insurance policy had been started by Member of Parliament, Naveen Jindal in memory of his late father and former Haryana Minister Mr. O.P.Jindal.

On this ocassion MLA Thanesar, Ramesh Gupta, Secretary to Governor, Alok Nigam, Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Aggarwal, S.P.,  A.S.Dhillon, Registrar, Kurukshetra University Mr. V.K. Aggarwal, General Secretary of the Manch, Babu Ram Tushar and Bureau Chief, Ajit ,Chandigarh, D.N.Chaudhary were also present.
