AMRITSAR: Time has come when there will be no more diesel operated generators and battery operated inverters. A Punjab school has shown the way.
The research of an Australian Prof. Robert Brown has become a reality and the science exhibit based on this latest concept Flying Electric Generator is developed by the students of Ashoka Sr. Sec. School, Amritsar now has been selected by NCERT to display in 34th Jawahar Lal Nehru National Science Exhibition at Puducherry (UT) from 21st -27th dec,2007.
Sushil Aggarwal, Principal of the school, said that it is a matter of great privilege for the students and science teachers of the school, that their exhibit is got selected for this prestigious National event after winning at Tehsil, District and State level competitions. But it is not the first time that school is participating at National level, earlier at Chennai and at New Delhi, the science models made by students also got selected at National level. Based on the concept of Wind mill this electric generator is established at the height of 10 - 30 km in the sky where wind currents are at very high speed and they can well rotate the turbines to produce huge amount of energy which is then sent to Earth through Tether wires. Moreover, this generator will be very useful at the time of Natural disasters like floods and Earthquakes when all other sources of electricity get failed. Above all, it is very economical and pollution free Natural resource of energy. The Magenn Air Corpn. -An American/Canadian Company has already started this project. The day is not far away when India will also enjoy this safe and cheap source of electricity produced by balloons like structures only. Y. P. Gupta, Director of the school congratulated the students and teachers for getting this remarkable achievement at National level. |
