CHANDIGARH:Ajay Yadav of Chandigarh qualified for boys under-16 as well as under-18 singles final of the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament being played at the CLTA Tennis Stadium in Sector 10 here on Thursday.

 

Ajay Yadav scored semi-final victories in contrasting styles. Unseeded in the boys under-18 singles, Ajay Yadav defeated Naveen Shankar, also of Chandigarh in the well-contested three sets 5-7, 7-6 (5), 7-5 in the semi-final contest. His opponent in the final tomorrow will be Navneet Kumar of Uttar Pradesh who accounted for Garry Singh Amor of Chandigarh by 3-6, 6-1, 6-3,

Maintainng his good form fifth seed Ajay Yadav outsted sixth seed Kamal Kishore Maderana, who had yesterday won the boys U-16 and U-18 doubles titles, in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 in the boys under-16 semi-final encounter. He will now exchange serves against Garry Singh Amor in the final tomorrow. Garry defeated Raghav Singhal of Chandigarh 6-3, 6-2.

Boys Under-16 singles (semi-finals): Ajay Yadav (Chd) bt Kamal Kishore Maderana (Raj) 6-3, 6-1, Garry S. Amor (Chd) bt Raghav Singhal (Chd) 6-3, 6-2.

Boys Under-18 singles (semi-finals): Ajay Yadav (Chd) bt Naveen Shankar (Chd) 5-7, 7-6 (5), 7-5, Navneet Kumar (UP) bt Garry S. Amor (Chd) 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.
