AMRITSAR: Former Congress MLA from Beas assembly constituency has been released from the Amritsar Central jail here Monday.

After his release from bars Dimpa was warmly received by hundreds of his supporters. There was one kilometers long cavalcade of Dimpa which was standing outside the jail to receive Dimpa since morning.

After his release Dimpa went to to Gurudwara Shaeed Ganj, Golden Temple and Durgyana Temple to pay obeisance along with the procession of his supporters.

Earlier on December 19, Justice S.S. Saron of the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted regular bail to Punjab’s former Congress MLA Jasbir Singh alias Dimpa.

Dimpa was arrested in connection with violent incidents on January 30 this year during General Assembly Election campaigning in Beas constituency of Punjab.

DImpa was allegedly having involvement of murder of a Shiromani Akali Dal supporter who was killed and some others injured. Due to the violence, the Election Commission had deferred polling in the Beas constituency. Dimpa was lodged in Amritsar jail since his surrender before the police.
