Punjab police solve Shingaar Cinema blast mystery |

CHANDIGARH:The Punjab Police has raised the curtain from the mystery behind the Shingaar Cinema blast and arrested a group of Babbar Khalsa activists including Gurpreet Singh, who had escaped while carrying a huge quantity of explosives.
The sources disclosed that police arrested Gurpreet a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) trained youth last week on a tip from a woman accomplice of one of the suspects.Fifteen accused trained and motivated youth, have been interrogated by eight teams, comprising about 55 security personnel, they added. The week-long investigation was done by teams of the Intelligence Bureau, RAW, Uttar Pradesh Police and special teams of the Punjab Police from Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts at the Ludhiana Police Lines. The police officers said that high quality explosive (RDX) was brought into India via the Bikanair border in Rajasthan before being distributed across Punjab. All 15 persons are trained in the use of IEDs and are very familiar with the use of computers. Each one of them is unknown to each other and assigned tasks separately. As per the report the the arrest of Gurpreet Singh was possible after a Phagwara-based girlfriend of one of the boys spilled the beans. |
