AMRITSAR: International community is stunned over the death of Benazir Bhutto, a former Prime minister of Pakistan. It is a great set back for those believing in the reform mechanism of democracy.
Fundamentalists never liked the resurgence of Bhutto in Pakistan and governance of Pakistan was a mute spectator to this at the crucial juncture. Benazir was a brand ambassador as a moderate leader in the world political order. Her death is a great set back to the efforts aimed at fostering women power around us. Cult of violence in Pakistan after her death shows failure of administration and an average Pakistani is dreaded now over the developments. There are rising number of economic disparities in the lives of Pakistanis. It seems difficult for the Mushraff to continue for long in the office under the present offshoots and provide a stable government to the people of Pakistan. Bush administration needs to redefine its relationships with Mushraff in the light of current developments as Pakistan in turmoil due to its moral support only. Pakistan cannot feed its natives without US help, how one can say that what ever is happening there, the moral responsibility for that can be escaped for Bush even indirectly. Indian administration needs to understand that the in the near future the influence of hardliners on PAK polity is not going to decline and our political relations must be tailored accordingly. Benajir end has put Pakistan back in the medieval era and the economic prosperity is at stake. Do we think that Mushraff sahib can convince the hardliners that Jehaadi path will put Pakistan on the back seat on the world economic order platform? The answer is plane no. Perhaps India Pak integration could have been the answer, as division of India in 1947 has never been digested by many people in both the countries. |
