The cost of the CFL would be recovered within three to four months as the average life of a CFL as compared to ordinary bulb was eight to ten times more, he added. Chander Mohan said that the conventional 40W tubelights consumed 16.2 units of electricity per month whereas the retrofit assembly 28W T-5 energy efficient tubelights consumes only 8.1 units of the electricity per month and thus it could save 50 per cent power as compared to conventional tubelights. He said that the expenditure on using one 28W retrofit assembly T-5 energy efficiency tubelights for 10 hours for one month would be of Rs. 34.40 per month as compared to 40W conventional tubelights of Rs. 68.85 per month.
