CHANDIGARH: Maninderjit Singh Bitta, president of Anti-terrorist Front on Monday fears threat to his life from Muslim and Sikh terrorists and certain officer in Punjab police for his anti-terrorist stance as he also revealed that he has been receiving continues threatening calls from Dubai and Saudi Arab for speaking against Mohammed Afzal, a death convict in Parliament attack.

He told media men here at Press club that during last three days he had received 128 threatening calls from telephone number originating from Dubai and Gulf. He said that he was already under threat from Sikh terrorists for favouring death sentence awarded to Devinderpal Singh Bhullar who was behind bomb blast on him in Delhi. He said that issuing open threats to him is a question mark on the credibility of intelligence agencies.

Bitta said that he had lodged a FIR in Parliament street police station at Delhi and also sent the telephone number details to Commissioner of Delhi Police. He said that he had also written to Prime Minister and Home minister about sinister designs of certain police officers sitting in central and state police forces. He named former Punjab DGP S.S.Virk for helping Punjab terrorist regroup in Punjab. He said that Babbar Khalsa terrorists recently arrested in connection with Ludhiana Shingar Cinema Bomb blast case had prepared action plan to eliminate him.

Bitta said that he was fighting against terrorism for the last over 25 years and had never faced such a serious threat to life. He said that he had received only two threatening letters from Sikh terrorists during the times of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala and was attacked twice in Punjab and once in Delhi.

Bitta said that former Punjab DGP S.S.Virk provided shelter to terrorists and helped them regroup before Punjab assembly elections. He said that there was plan to create an atmosphere of fear to garner votes for one political party. He said that Virk was always helping terrorists and he even suggested him to help in securing release of Devinderpal Singh Bhullar. He said that when Virk was ADGP intelligence in punjab, he had advised him(Bitta) to meet President fo India for commuting death sentence of Bhullar and win the sympathy of Sikhs. He alleged that Virk had also told him to contest election from Sikh dominated Tarn Taran Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab after release of Bhullar.

Bitta alleged that beside Virk five more Punjab police officers are helping terrorists. He said that he had prepared a list of politicians and police officers who are hand in glove with the terrorists and put it in his computer. He said that if he was killed, people will come to know about these names. He said that certain police officers are trying to withdraw his security cover.

Bitta said he would continue to follow the line of anti-terrorist Front and is not threatened by calls from terrorists. He said that he was living an extended life and prefer to die for the national security.
