NEW DELHI:Centre has agreed in priniciple to bring apple crop under Rashtriya Krishi Bima Yojna scheme said himachal Pradesh horticulture minister sh narender bragta after meeting with union agriculture minister sh Sharad Pawar in Krishi Bhawan new delhi Thursday.
Narender Bragta horticulture minister handed him over the letter of state Chief Minister Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal in which the case for inclusion of apple under the scheme was strongly pleaded and the union agriculture minister sh sharad pawar agreed to the proposal of the state Chief Minister Narender Bragta told that centre will send high level team of experts in the state for discussing the implementation of this scheme at ground level He requested the centre to sanction rupees 150 crore for promotion of herbal, medicinal and aromatic plants in the western Himalayan region of the state and told that state govt has decided to promote herbal cultivation on scientific lines in remote areas of the state to strengthen rural economy and harness the natural potential available in hilly areas of the state . He said that state has received rupees 91.50 crore rupees under horticulture technology mission during last three years and added that horticulture revolution has taken place in the state as farmers has diversified from traditional agriculture to floriculture , vegetable production etc and revealed that around six lakh sq kilo metre area has been brought under protected cultivation in the state . He said that state has emerged as Carnation State of India and its flowers are finding its way in export markets in various countries He requested the centre govt to include horticulture activities under the district horticulture plans instead of present practice of district agriculture plans . He said that rural economy of the state revolves around horticulture and the people are shifting from traditional agriculture practices to the horticulture cultivation because of introductions of various incentives and suitable climatic conditions of the state |
