CHANDIGARH: Haryana and neighbouring States of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday resolved to have a more coordinated approach  in policing to provide a more secure environment to the citizens of Delhi and the neighbouring areas.

 

The inter-state meeting of police officers was held in New Delhi on Tuesday and addressed by Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Director General Police, Haryana.They  addressed the senior officers who deal with the issues of crime, traffic, law and order, security and anti-terrorist operations in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.

It was decided to enhance their mechanism to gather intelligence and exchange of information so as to effectively curb criminal activities. It was also  resolved to  strengthen coordination to address  various issues which related to the police in the National Capital Region (NCR).

While deliberating on improving cooperation among the police forces of various states, it was decided to make 30 institutional arrangements in this regard very soon. It was observed that in the urban area of continuous NCR, there was a need to have seamless policing and this would be possible through a well coordinated approach involving sharing of intelligence and joint action against inter-state criminals.

The latest trends in crime and modus operandi of criminals were discussed and focus area in combatting crime were identified. The strategies for the same were also finalised.

Apart from discussing the issue of traffic, there was a general perception that the rapid growth of NCR and fast development of satellite towns like Noida, Gurgaon, Rohtak and Sonipat had resulted in more traffic.

They also discussed possible solutions to manage growing traffic.The need to have such meetings regularly at district and at the level of police station was also felt. It was decided to nominate Nodal officers at the district level.

It may be recalled that  Haryana Police has, in collaboration with Punjab and Rajasthan Police, already decided to exchange information regarding the movement of all operational inter-state criminal gangs, bail jumpers and other accused persons. For this, Haryana police has established an inter-state coordination cell at Dabwali in Sirsa district.
