PATIALA: Another witness of CBI Friday turned hostile in Harpreet Kaur murder case in the Patiala Court here Friday.
The case Friday was resumed in the court of District session Judge Inderjit Singh walia. Prof. Jaswant Singh said that he had recorded his statement with metropolitan magistrate Delhi on being asked by CBI. He said that CBI gave a written chit at that time; He further added that he had recorded his statement after being harassed by CBI in New Delhi. He said that at that time he was lecturer of Government college of Kapurthala and now heading it, The court has adjourned the case for Saturday. Bibi Jagir Kaur is facing a criminal case along with Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi, Sanjiv Kumar, Satya Paramjit Raipur, Harwinder Singh and Nishan Singh, registered by the CBI under sections 302 (murder), 364, 365 (kidnapping), 344 (confinement), 213 (using poisonous substances to do away with someone), 201 (deliberately destroying legal evidence) and 313 (forcible abortion), for hatching a conspiracy to kill Harpreet Kaur, after she had "married" Kamaljit Singh. Harpreet Kaur was allegedly done to death on the intervening night of April 20-21 in 2000 as she was administered an over dose of a sedative called phenobarbitone. It was alleged that the former SGPC chief had took the help of her confidants Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi and Paramjit Singh Raipur and gave a sedative to Harpreet following which her baby was aborted by a Dr Balwinder Singh Sohal, who later turned approver in the case. |
