DHARMSHALA:Returning Officer for election to Council of State, Himachal Pradesh said here Tuesday that an Election is to be held of a Member to the Council of States by the elected members of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

He said that nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or any of his proposer to the Returning Officer (Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha) or Assistant Returning Officer (Deputy Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha) in the room of Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha (Administrative Block), Shimla between 11a.m and 3 p.m on any day (other than public holiday) not later than 15th March, 2008. He said that nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on 17th March, 2008 at 11 a.m.

He further said that notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or his proposer or his election agent (who has been authorized in writing by the candidate to deliver it) to either of the officers at his office before 3 p.m on 19th March, 2008. In the event of election being contested, the poll will be taken on the 26th March, 2008 between 9 a.m and 4 p.m, he added.
