Retired Punjab police DSP committed suicide |

AMRITSAR: Retried Deputy Superintendent (DSP) of Punjab Police Swaran Singh Hundal (64) in a fit of depression committed suicide here Wednesday in the evening at his residence Gopal Nagar locality with his double Barrel Gun.
Hundal was reportedly facing trial in various criminal cases in the CBI court and was depressed for the past few months and Wednesday he ended his life while committing suicide at his residence. Earlier, in the year of 1997, Hundal was confined in the jail for allegedly killing the famous Punjabi singer Dilshad Akthar in Gurdaspur District during the marriage party at that time he was serving DSP. He spent nearly one year in the jail and later he was acquitted. During his jail term, Hundal had attempted to commit suicide but his life was saved with the timely intervention of doctors. After acquittal Hundal was reverted from DSP to Inspector but later his rank was restored. He was retired from the Punjab Police Service as a DSP in the year of 2002.
