PATIALA: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) Wednesday took the possession of 39 bighe land, situated in Neta JI Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), here Wednesday.
The Additional Sub Judge Tejinder Kaur Wednesday ordered to give possession of said land to SGPC as SGPC has won its case from Punjab and Haryana High Court against NSNIS on February 29 this year. The land is situated along with historic Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib. SGPC took the possession by erecting barbed wires in the presence of officials from Court, Chief Architect of Punjab, officers of revenue department etc. Former president of SGPV Kirpal Singh Badunagar, who was present on this occasion, said that 9th Guru of Sikhs, Guru Teg Bahadur sahib Ji had touched this place and spent few days here in sixteen century. The royal family of Patiala had donated 39-bighe land to Gurdwara but NS-NIS has captured this land in 1968. SGPC had challenged it in court and after fighting the legal battle by over 40 years it has managed to take possession of said land. Punjab Government had given this land to NS NIS on April 5, 1992 through registered deed, which SGPC had challenged, and got it abolished from the court. The case of getting possession has decided in the favor of SGPC on February 29 this year by the Punjab and Haryana High court. |
