KOLKATA: Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly was conferred the Outstanding Young Achievers Award for his contribution to Indian cricket.
The award, instituted by the Young Leaders forum of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, was handed over to Ganguly at a glittering programme here in the presence of a large number of business honchos, film personalities and other eminent persons. The award comprised a trophy and a citation which was presented to the cricketer by Bengali film actress Koel Mullick. The citation described Ganguly as a 'legend' and 'a cricketer unparalleled'. "He is true leader who spearheaded the rise of India's new young sporting spirit," it said. While speaking on the occasion, Ganguly said "for anyone, being recognised in any aspect of life is a huge inspiration. This is not only a recognition for my past performance, but will motivate and push me on to do well in future." |
