UT admin to teach students hazards of Tobacco Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Administration has decided to launch awareness and sensitization activities in schools and colleges regarding hazards of Tobacco use. 

The programme would be part of the PGI's Tobacco Cessation Centre. 

UT Home and Education Secretary, Krishna Mohan disclosed that PGI's team of Psychiatrists and psychologists would be visit schools and colleges on Mondays and Saturdays for such activities.

UT Education Secretary revealed that sensitization programme would be implemented from coming academic year onwards. The programme will be beneficial since Chandigarh has been declared a Smoke Free City, added Mohan.

Education Secretary also revealed that Director Higher Education, Raji P. Shrivastava would formulate a schedule for the colleges and Director Public Instructions (S) is expected to formulate the same for schools.
