CHANDIGARH: The Congress Lgislature Party(CLP) on Monday in its meeting held here asked its members and senior party leaders to refrain from raising their differences in the public.
The CLP decision has followed allegations made by former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh against PPCC president Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on the issue of supporting ruling party on the floor of house for postponing Panchayat elections. The CLP going a step further appreciates and placed on record the relentless efforts of the CLP to seek postponement of the Panchayat Elections in Punjab till 15th May, 2008.
Sensing the sinister designs of ruling SAD-BJP alliance, CLP unanimously felt that the ruling Party was planning to hijack the Panchayat Elections depriving very large number of constituents of their legitimate right to participate in Panchayat elections. Captain Amarinder Singh in a press statement had accused Bhattal for hobnobbing with the ruling party. Bhattal had rebutted the allegations saying that she didn't need certificate from Amarinder Singh. Union minister Ambika Soni had also joined issue and warned Amarinder against his public utterances. Amarinder Singh was absent from the Monday's meeting. A party spokesman said that raising such issues in public can harm party in Lok Sabha elections
