CHANDIGARH: Lt Gen TK Sapru, GOC-in-C Western Command visited Pooh Tuesday.

On his arrival at Pooh, the General Officer was received by senior military officers of the station and was later briefed on the operational plans.

As the region is prone to natural calamities, the disaster management plans in place and the assistance being rendered in this regard to the civil administration were highlighted to the General Officer.

Gen Sapru appreciated the measures being taken by the army to assist the locals in this remote area, forge bonds with the local population as well as maintaining the fragile ecology of the area.

He expressed satisfaction with the operational readiness and emphasised on the need to continue the unstinting vigil on the Border.

General Sapru then carried out an aerial reconnaissance of the area.
