AMRITSAR: Around one lakh candidates would sit in the Annual Under-Graduate Theory Examinations of Guru Nanak Dev University commencing from Thursday i.e. March 27 for which all necessary arrangements had already been completed.
     

Stating this, Controller of Examinations, Harbhajan Singh said that the University had setup 272 examination centres in various affiliated colleges and associate institutes of distance education for the smooth conduct of these examinations in which around one lakh candidates including 26151 private candidates of B.A. Part I, II and III are appearing.

Among these examination centres, fifty-two centres have been setup for private candidates and thirty-six examinations centres for the candidates of distance education.

More than four thousands teaching and non-teaching staff members have been deputed for this purpose.

He said that the principals of the colleges situated in the districts of Jalandhar, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Nawanshar and Tarn Taran would act as local Controller of Examinations. To check any outside interference, the university has also written to the district police chiefs to deploy sufficient police force, he said.
  
He informed that a strict vigil would be kept on the sensitive examination centres. If any untoward incident is reported from any of the centres, the university would take immediate action.

The university has also setup a control room at the university campus in which a senior official would remain present round the clock. The supervisory staff deputed in the examination centres could contact on phone for any kind of information.

The Controller of Examinations said that university had already sent the roll numbers and date sheets to all the regular and private candidates. No candidate would be allowed in the examination hall without his/her roll number.

He advised the candidates to reach their examination centres at least half an hour before the commencement of their respective papers.
