JAWALAMUKHI: Sarveen Chaudhary, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Himachal Pradesh said that the department has sanctioned Rs.1.98 crore for construction of 99 anganwari centres in 8 districts of the State under Scheduled Caste Component Sub Plan 2007-08.

She said that Rs. 2 lacs each would be provided for construction of each anganwari centre. She said that Rs. 32 lacs have been sanctioned for 16 anganwari centres in district Sirmaur, Rs. 50 lacs for 25 anganwari centres in district Kangra, Rs. 18 lacs for 9 anganwari centres in district Chamba, Rs. 4 lacs for 2 anganwari centres in Bilaspur district, Rs. 20 lacs for 10 anganwari centres in district Shimla, Rs. 2 lacs for one anganwari centre in district Una, Rs. 4 lacs for 2 anganwari centres in district Hamirpur, Rs. 68 lacs for 34 anganwari centres in district Mandi.

The Minister said that the construction work would be carried out on priority in order to facilitate the children and women of the State which would go a long way in strengthening the anganwari network which were providing nutritious diet to children and expecting mothers.

She said that State Government has accorded top priority to the welfare of women, children and weaker sections of the society.
