JAWALAMUKHI: The blame game within the Congress after its defeat to the BJP in the recently concluded assembly elections has not come to an end with Jawalamukhi Block party unit blaming former chief minister Virbhadra Singh for the defeat of its official candidate from this constituency.
''During his several public meetings in this constituency in the elections, he never sought peoples' support for the party's official candidate Ruma Kaundal,'' party's block president Inder Mohan Walia said here Thursday. He said in one of the public meetings held here, Singh, who was to address a public meeting here at noon, arrived only at 1900 hrs at Geeta Bhawan and this went against the party candidate, besides the presence of a rebel candidate in Sanjay Rattan. The party's block unit meeting was Thursday held at Aggarwal Dharmshala to ascertain the reasons for the defeat of the party's candidate from this constituency in the assembly elections. Walia said the rebel candidate remained a dedicated party worker during the last five years and then decided to contest the elections as an independent. ''This was one of the main reasons for the party's defeat in this constituency,'' he added. The party unit also passed a resolution for including Ms Kaundal as delegate in the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) and prevent the re entry of rebels into the party. They also criticised the attitude of Sushil Rattan vice chairman of State Freedom fighters welfare Board.Former MLA Mela ram Saver and other senior members of the party was also present at the meeting. |
