CHANDIGARH: A city-based businessman shot dead his paralyzed daughter before turning his licensed revolver on himself here Saturday.

He business died on the spot, while his 21-year-old daughter Poonam, who was paralytic and in coma for the last two years, succumbed to bullet injuries at the hospital.

The incident took place at their residence in Sector 23.

Karamjit Singh, who was in his mid-50s, owned Kasauli Broilers, a meat products shop in Chandigarh’s busy Sector 22 market, which was doing quite well.

Family members told the police that Karamjit was depressed over the last few days since his elder daughter was paralysed and his younger daughter had eloped earlier this month.
