PATIALA: High velocity winds accompanied by  hailstorms and rain which hit various parts of the district, Friday  evening,  have caused significant damage to the standing wheat crops.

Reports reaching at district headquarters said that hailstorms had flattened the standing wheat crop in large number of villages falling under the Pataran, Shutrana and while farmers suffered huge losses in Samana area.

Not only this, winds accompanied by rain and hailstorm have also hampered the harvesting of wheat and its procurement.

Reports said that huge loss have reported in Shutrana area where over 75 % of standing crop have been damaged.
