Punjab govt announces 75pc subsidy on drip irrigation scheme |

CHANDIGARH: Keeping in view to provide better irrigation facility to farmers of the State, the Punjab Government has decided to enhance the rate of subsidy from 50 percent to 75 percent on Drip/Sprinkler Scheme for Irrigation.
While giving this information Sucha Singh Langah Agriculture Minister Punjab said that this system of Irrigation was more economical and also useful for all the crops including fruits and vegetables except paddy plantation. Drip Irrigation was modern technique which consumes less water, proving helpful in checking the depleting water table. Under Drip Irrigation Scheme subsidy on farm water storage tanks would also be given to the tune of 50 percent or maximum Rs. One lakh. Giving more details the Minister said that this modern technique benefits farmers in many ways. It consumes less fertilizer, Labour and Power and gives more and high quality yield to farmers. The Minister appealed to the farming community to adopt Drip/Sprinkler modern technique of irrigation and get this scheme fitted in your farms only from reputed and registered firms as recommended by the soil and water conservation department. |
