AMRITSAR: On reaching at the outskirt of city ‘Guru Manyo Granth Jagriti Yatra’ received rousing welcome at Jandiala town around fifteen kilometers away from the Golden Temple here Sunday in the evening.
Yatra is expected to reach at Golden Temple after 12.00 a.m late tonight, since moving on very slow pace amidst of sea crowd of devotees. People have organized langar (free community) for the devotees participating in the Yatra. Jagriti Yatra also carrying ancient Weapons of Tenth Sikh Master Guru Gobind Singh and other Sikh martyrs has been broguht out of the sanctum sanctorum of Takht Hazoor Sahib for the first time in 300 years, now expected to reach at Golden Temple tonight. The historic weapons are being taken for darshan (Public display) in specially designed ‘rath’ (engine driven cart) along with hand-written Bir of Guru Granth Sahib (holy Sikh religious scripture). Jagriti Yatra on reaching at Golden Temple would be received by the senior functionaries of SGPC and Head priest and priests Golden Temple, as Jatehdar Akal Takht Gyani Joginder Singh Vedanti is away at UK on his religious tour. However, the Jagriti Yatra, which entered Punjab on March 3, was organised to commemorate 300 years of the installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and ‘parlokgaman’ (heavenly abode) of Guru Gobind Singh. The yatra started from Takht Sachkhand Hazoor Sahib on November 15, 2007, and Chief Ministers of different states received it when it traversed from their respective states. This holy yatra has already covered nearly 200 cities of the country across Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bihar, UP, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Himachal so far. |
