He informed that the homeless, destitute and the daily wagers are being provided with dry ration and cooked food through the Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Committees, with active support of local Gurudwaras and philanthropists.

Claiming considerable improvement in door to door delivery of essentials, DC said that after initial hiccups now the system is quite streamlined and wide coverage of households has been achieved on day two of the exercise. Crediting the improvement to roping in of a large number of local neighbourhood shops, big retailers and e-Commerce chains he said that over 200 local neighbourhood shops have been pressed into service and they are being complemented by big retailers like easyday, more, Reliance and e-commerce service providers like grofers, and bhejo. He assured that with each passing day people will get better services. Deputy Commissioner reiterated that no walk-in into the stores is permitted and all the empanelled stores are to work with shutters down.
