28th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival begins at GNDU tomorrow

AMRITSAR: The 28th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival of the Universities from all over Northern India will be inaugurated tomorrow at Sports Grounds of the varsity. This festival would be organized from November 7 to 11, 2012 under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi and hosted by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India.

GNDU Registrar, Dr. Inderjit Singh said all essential arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of this event. He said that more than 1500 student-artists and their accompanists are expected to reach at University Campus. He said that adequate security from District Administration along with Campus Security would be at high alert during this mega event.  Dr. Singh said that identity cards to all the student-artists and other members have been issued to check the entry of the outsiders.

He said that the festival would be started with a cultural procession of student-artists from various Universities which would start from Guru Nanak Bhawan of the University to the Sports Grounds of the University. He said that alumni of the University and world famous folk singers, Jasbir Jassi, Amrinder Gill, Sarabjit Cheema, Roshan Prince and Satinder Satti would specially participate in the inaugural function.

Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare said that the competitions of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts would be organized during this five day festival. She said that eminent personalities related to film industry, music, theatre and fine arts are also expected to attend this festival.
