FARIDKOT: It has been more than one-and-a-half months since the Shruti abduction case happened and the action committee made to get justice for the Sachdeva family has now planned to take the protest to Doaba region of Punjab after protesting across the Malwa region of the state.

According to a decision taken by the committee, there will be a protest rally at Jallandhar on November 18. A minor girl was abducted at gunpoint by some men from Dogar Basti area of Faridkot and the incident had happened at about 9:45 am. An action committee was formed to fight vandalism in the town. Since that day the committee has been holding a dharna in front of the main police station. And the dharna is still on due to justice being delayed.

The main accused has been arrested by the police and the girl has also been rescued but the girl has still not reached her house and is being kept in Jallandhar. This is the reason for the action committee still protesting against the administration’s attitude towards the case.

Terming police’s investigation doubtful, the committee is asking for a CBI inquiry into the case and getting Shruti back to her house in Faridkot from Nari Niketan in Jallandhar, where she has been kept presently. On the committee’s call, there were protest rallies in Faridkot on November 5 and in Bathinda on November 9. Despite their repeated attempts, there has been no action taken and due to this the committee has decided to take their protest outside the Malwa region. The committee has issued a press statement demanding the Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal to pass orders to handover Shruti back to her family before Diwali.

The chief parliamentary secretary was at Dogar Basti area to take part in an event and the committee raised slogans against CPS Mantar Singh Brar, who had to leave the place following the committee’s protest. The committee stated that it has decided to protest all minister’s, MLA’s and MP’s for their role in the Shruti abduction case and due to this Brar had to face the protest.
