RAKHRA (PATIALA): Rubbishing allegations leveled by Leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar regarding disbursement of grants in Lambi assembly segment, the Chief Minister said that due to the passing of two canals from the area, it was heavily water logged and acting on the genuine demand of the residents the Union government had sanctioned a special package for it.
He said that Jakhar must have mentioned the special grant of Rs 40 crore given to Abohar, out of which Rs 21 crore had already been released. The Chief Minister said that he was committed for the development of the entire state and recently he had sanctioned projects to the tune of nearly Rs 30 crore for Kandi area at Talwara. Likewise Badal said that in order to provide world class medical facilities to the people the state government has decided to transform Rajindra Hospital into a Super Specialty centre adding that an outreach centre of the PGI would soon come at Sangrur.
When asked about the objections made by state Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh regarding the appointment of Justice JS Sekhon as Lokpal of the state, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that frustrated from his own party Captain was unnecessarily issuing such baseless statements.
He said that Justice Sekhon was an eminent legal luminary who had rendered outstanding services to the nation adding that his appointment was totally in accordance with the rules which have been duly endorsed by Chief Justice, Speaker and Governor of the state.
The Chief Minister said that state government has focused on providing vocational training to the youth for which 4 mega skill centres would be opened in the different districts of state to impart technical training to one lakh youth every year. He said that in the same manner the state government has taken unprecedented steps to provide recruitment to the youth in public sector.
Paying rich tributes to Subedaar Bapu Kartar Singh Dhaliwal, the Chief Minister recalled the outstanding services rendered by him towards nation as serving in Army. He also lauded the philanthropic services provided by Rakhra Charitable trust to perpetuate the rich legacy of ensuring well being of all sections of section especially the upbringing up destitute and orphan children.
