CM ridicules Bittu’s statement on drug addiction among youth of Badal village

KIRATPUR SAHIB (ROPAR): Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today ridiculed the statement of Anandpur Sahib MP Ravneet Singh Bittu that 70 percent of youth of village Badal are hooked to drugs.

“I fail to understand why Bittu is making such baseless statements when he has not even visited village Badal and does not know anything about the village”, Badal said while talking to media persons at Kiratpur Sahib today .

Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu had on Sunday challenged Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal to get a drug abuse survey conducted in his native village Badal: “He will find out that more than 70% youth are hooked to drugs.” He had challenged to quit politics if proved false. 

Badal said if Bittu could make ridiculous comments about his village, he could also make similar comments about Bittu’s village. He reiterated that Punjab government could not be blamed for drug menace in the state adding that it was the duty of the centre to stop the drug trafficking from international border and adjoining state Rajasthan which was ruled by Congress.

In reply to a question about the allegations of misappropriation of funds by Trust of union minister Salman Khurshid , he  said that proper enquiry must be conducted in to the matter and action must betaken against the guilty as per law.
Badal said that everyday new scams of the UPA government were coming to light. However, the government was taking action against the lower level officials only and protecting the higher ups.

Earlier Badal attended the ceremony of immersion of ashes of Akali Dal leader from Kilianwali Rajinder Singh Bhatti in Sutlej at Gurdwara Patalpuri Sahib.

A large number of Akali Dal and BJP workers and leaders including Punjab Irrigation minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon, National vice president of BJP Swaran Salaria, Ropar MLA Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema,former minister Satwant Kaur Sandhu,SGPC members Amarjit Singh Chawla, Paramjit Singh Lakhewal were also present on the occasion.
