SANGRUR: Punjab Congress General Secretary and Dhuri MLA Arvind Khanna, stated that the government has sanctioned Rs 3.82 crore for safe drinking water in Dhuri. Apart from this, there will be two water tanks made for the town.
The capacity will be one lakh gallon each, five new tube wells will be put up and a pipe line of about 20 km will be installed for this project. Tenders will be floated for this project very soon, Khanna informed.
He said that during elections, he had promised to the people of Dhuri that he will ensure safe drinking water and the promise is about to be fulfilled now. Apart from providing safe drinking water, he informed that a grant worth crore of rupees has been given for the development of government schools by the Central government.
But, the SAD government is trying to claim that this grant has been given by the SAD government and taking credit for this. He said that the state is left with no money for the state development and this is the reason why the present government is trying to take credit for every scheme being run by the Central government.
He said that under a comprehensive plan, he will soon try and get grant for making the sewerage system of Dhuri better. He said that for this grant will come under Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission-2. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Union Urban Development Minister Kamalnath have already been informed about this, Khanna added. He has assured that a grant for this will be given very soon.
