The former beauty queen Gul Panag, who has done some laudable job in Bollywood films like Dor, Doop, Manorama Six feet under and her latest film Fatso which received a mix review, now plans to enter Punjabi Cinema.
Gul has been featured for the lead role in Jatinder Mauhar’s ‘Sarsa’, who has also directed critically acclaimed ‘Mitti’.
Gul would not only be acting in the film but also co-producing the film the actress was quoted, “"It's about modern-day student politics in Punjab; reflecting the atmosphere of university and the colleges turning into a battlefield between the parties at the time of elections just to attain power.”
Gul also talked about her character in the film, she identified her character with Beant Kaur, and she also added that she wish she could be like Beant Kaur as she feels she is not even half of what she was. "She was independent with a very clear vision of right and wrong. She would stick to the norms no matter what may come her way.”
When Gul was asked about why she took so long to enter Punjabi Cinema as Punjabi being her mother tongue, to which Gul asserted that she didn't find any script that convincing till now.
Gul who has always been a part of commercial films insisted ‘Sarsa’ to be one too. She confirmed the release of the film in the next 2-3 months. Gul added that thought Delhi being an important city, the makers have also planned to release the film in Mumbai if possible.
