JALANDHAR: A joint team of Punjab Police, Punjab health department and Food and Civil Supply today unearthed a fake desi ghee manufacturing factory situated in Rama Mandi here today.
Team led by ACP Naresh Dogra and District Health Officer Dr. Jasbir Singh acting on a complaint by the management of a Rudrapur (UP) based desi ghee factory manufacturing Balak brand ghee that a factory situated in Rama Mandi in Jalandhar had been using its trade mark of Balalk Shudh Desi conducted a raid on the factory Deod Sidh Food Products and seized 10 quintals of desi ghee. The police sealed the factory and arrested the owner Ravinder Gupta under section 420 IPC and 7-essential act.
ACP Naresh Dogra said that the unit was in operation for the last several years and the owners were using the trade mark of the Rudrapur based company which had failed due to certain reasons but the company had not shun the Trade Mark ‘Balak’.
Dr. Jasbir Singh said that the owners had installed four sophisticated machines for mixing dalda ghee and refined oil supplemented with flavours to convert the ingredients into desi ghee. The department had taken five samples of the ghee also which had been sent for testing in a laboratory at Chandigarh. Dr. Singh added.
