LUDHIANA: Another victim of blast that took place at the shop of a scrap dealer near Samrala Chowk on Saturday, succumbed to injuries at the SPS Apollo Hospital here today taking the death toll to four. 

The deceased –Chotu Ram, was critically injured in the blast, and was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries.The doctors attending to three other injured persons, admitted to Apollo Hospital, and another in the CMC Hospital, said condition of the other victims was stable.

The blast that had occurred when the workers of the scrap dealer Manjit Singh were attempting to take out the metal from the shell of a live bomb from out of the scrap, had led to the death of Balbir Singh, Salig Ram and Kishore.Five others, identified as Mukesh kumar, Sant Ram, Rajesh Kumar, Mushir-ul and Chotu Ram, injured in the blast were admitted to hospital.

The police were investigating to ascertain the source of the scrap from out of which a live bomb had caused the blast.A case under section 304 IPC has been registered against the scrap dealer and further investigation was in progress.
