NAWANSHAHR: The district level NGOs Coordination Society - UPKAR, which has brought the district Nawanshahr on national map for its concerted efforts against the female foeticide, at its executive meeting here today, while condemning the gruesome murder of the ASI Ravinderpal Singh while opposing harassment of his daughter by the miscreants having political clout said that such incidents were on the rise, consequently not only proving detrimental to the law and order but also to the social movement against the sex - based  discrimination.

Earlier, the "Shruti Case" of Faridkot had shocked the society."Such incidents are on the rise, consequently creating a fear psychosis among the parents over the security of their girls", lamented the UPKAR society while urging the political parties not to patronise goonda elements. Besides, the NGO also urged the Chief Minister to take immediate steps to curb the menace of eve teasing by ensuring police security at the educational institutions during beginning and closing times.
