CHANDIGARH: Former Press Secretary of People’s Party of Punjab Arunjot Sodhi who raised a banner of revolt against the dictatorial functioning and misappropriation of funds by party president Manpreet Singh Badal and Bharat Bhushan Thapar are expected to meet Arvind Kejriwal soon. Thapar is nephew of Shaheed Sukhdev.
As per the sources, Aam Amdi Party president Kejriwal has himself expressed interest to meet Sodhi to forge an alliance for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It may be recalled that Kejriwal’s close aide Manish Sisodia had approached Manpreet Badal to chalk out an alliance between the two.
However, the plans could not turn into a reality as Kejirwal was reportedly busy with his crusade against UPA Chairperson’s son-in-law Robert Vadra then.Meanwhile, PPP leaders unhappy with Manpreet’s alleged proximity to Congress have readily expressed their interest to meet Kejriwal.
On the other hand, Manpreet has been reportedly busy and discussing holding meetings to form a consensus in the party members for an alliance with Congress and ensure defeat of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in 2014 general elections. Congress leaders have also allegedly suggested Party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for an alliance with PPP. Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh has already given a call for opposition unity in the state.
