People living in fear under SAD-BJP rule: Arvind Khanna

DHURI (SANGRUR): People of Punjab are constantly living in fear under the rule of the SAD-BJP rule in the state. This was stated by Congress general secretary and MLA from Dhuri Arvind Khanna here today.

Khanna, who is also Chairman of Umeed Foundation, was at Dhura Pind village today to bless a newly-wed couple at the residence of former sarpanch of the village Sant Kumar.

Condemning the daylight cold-blooded killing of ASI Ravinderpal Singh by former Akali leader Ranjeet Singh Rana in Amritsar on December 5, Khanna said the incident bears testimony to the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

“A policeman was shot in cold blood publically for trying to salvage his daughter’s dignity. If this is what is happening with a cop in our state, how will a common man feel safe?” Khanna questioned Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Pointing a finger at the Akali-BJP coalition, the Dhuri MLA further added that every citizen of Punjab irrespective of class and strata is adversely affected due to the anti-people policies of the present state government. He added that the SAD government has forced the people to live in fear of the rising crime incidents.

He said people were already burdened with inflation in Punjab and now SAD’s anti-public policies have started giving boost to hooliganism in the state.

“Women are not safe in Punjab anymore and people are scared to send their daughters to other cities for getting education,” Khanna remarked.

Taking a dig at the stone laying spree of the Badal duo, Khanna stated that all developmental works in the state are limited to the stone-laying ceremony. Pointing out the tall claims and promises made by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Khanna said: “Promises are just promises.”
