CHANDIGARH: Punjab Government has announced the names of dignitaries to be honored on the annual Sanman Samaroh which would be held on November 17. The dignitaries would be honoured by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at Punjab Bhawan at 4:00 PM on Saturday (November 17).
Revealing this here today Education Minister of Punjab Sikandar Singh Maluka today said that the Sahit Rattan and Shiromani awards would be given for the year of 2010 and 2011 to the person who has done a remarkable job in the field of Punjabi Sahit.
He said Amarjit Gurdaspuri has been selected for the award for Shiromani Punjabi Singer 2010 and legend Punjabi Singer Kuldeep Manak would be awarded posthumously with Shiromani Punjabi Singer for the year of 2011.
He said Dr Mohinder Kaur Gill and Prem Parkash Khannvi would be honored with Sahit Rattan Award which includes Rs 5 lakh cash prize, for the year of 2010 and 2011 respectively. Dr Tejwant Mann (2010) and Surjit Hans (2011) would be awarded with the Shiromani Punjabi Sahitkar. He further said the Shiromani Hindi Sahitkar Award and Shiromani Urdu Sahitkar Award would be given first time to Dr Krishan Kumar Rattu and Dr Rubina Shabnam the year 2011. Shiv Kumar Bharadwaj from Dehradun has been selected for the Shiromani Sanskrit Award 2010 and Dr Mahesh Chandar Gautam for 2011, the Minister added.
He said prominent Shiromani Punjabi Poet award would be given to Surinder Gill for the year 2010 and the award for the same category for 2011 would be awarded to Surjit Judge. Likewise, Shiromani Punjabi Critics (Alochak) /Gyan Sahit Award to be given to Harbhajan Singh Bhatia 2010 and Sarup Singh Alag 2011.
He said in order to recognize the contribution of foreign Punjabi poets, Punjab Government has decided to honor Veena Sharma 2010 and Jarnail Singh Toronto 2011 in the category of Shiromani Punjabi Sahitkar (Foreign).
Besides, Darshan Singh Bhau 2010 and Harbhajan Singh Komal 2011 would also be awarded with Shiromani Punjabi Sahitkar (Outside Punjab).
He said Sukhdev Singh Grewal 2010 and Kamaljeet Neelon has been selected for Shiromani Punjabi Bal Sahit Writer Award. He further said Hukam Chand Sharma 2010 and Kamaljit Singh Banvait 2011 would be honored with Shiromani Punjabi Patarkar and Shiromani Punjabi Sahitik Patarkar Award for 2010 would be given to Gurvinder Singh Dhaliwal. The award for year 2011 for same category to be given to Jagdish Waryaam.
The Minister said the Shiromani Dhadhi/Raggi/Kawishar award 2010 would be given to Joga Singh Jogi and award for 2011 to goes to Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa. Shiromani Punjabi TV/radio award for 2010 would be given to Jatinder Kaur and Kesar Singh would be awarded with in the same category for the year of 2011.
He said Kirpal Singh Badungar, Harvinder Singh Khalsa and Gulzar Singh Shaunki would be honored with special puraskars. Sarvotam Pustak Purskar Awards 2011 would also be given on the occasion.
