NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH: Retaliating over the allegations by Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal that SAD leaders were Thursday attacked by the followers of Paramjit Singh Sarna in a pre-meditated plan, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president said the SAD (Badal) followers were the ones who launched an attack on the DSGMC members with the help of Punjab Police guards and when the executive body meeting was going on inside gurdwara Rakabganj.
Speaking to media persons here, Sarna alleged that SAD (Badal) president of Delhi unit Manjit Singh GK, Youth Wing president Manjinder Singh Sirsa and general secretary Kuldeep Singh Bhogal among others barged into the office of DSGMC at the time of executive meeting and assaulted the DSGMC members.
Sarna said the assailants had firearms and wielded kirpans at the DSGMC members. “They had kirpans and firearms and pelted stones at the DSGMC members. They wanted to wipe out our records and had come with the intentions of hurting my brother Harvinder Singh Sarna and me,” Sarna added.
He added that he had sensed trouble and had already alerted the police authorities a day in advance and also asked the members of the executive body for making arrangements for the security of all in the gurdwara.
Sarna further said when the attackers failed in their attempt to reach me, they started hurling stones at the members of the Committee Task Force, leaving the window panes broken.
He claimed that the Badal’s followers also fired shots and the evidence was there in the form of bullet marks on the walls.
A police case has been filed against the SAD (Badal) followers, Sarna claimed.
