AMRITSAR: Amidst the controversy over the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s silence over the attack on the Operation Bluestar commander Lt Gen Kuldeep Singh Brar, the Akali Dal controlled Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandik Committee (SGPC) on Tuesday honoured Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha, the two assassins of General AS Vaidya, who were hanged to death on October 9, 1992.
The SGPC had organised the Akhand Path to mark the twentieth execution anniversary of the two assassins whom it has declared as martyrs, twenty year ago. The bhog of the Akhand Path was performed yesterday. And the relatives of Sukha and Jinda were also honoured by the SGPC at a function presided over by the SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh.
General Vaidya was the Chief of Army Staff in 1984 when the Operation Bluestar was launched by the Indian army to flush out militants led by Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale from the Golden Temple. Several people, including the innocent pilgrims, militants and soldiers were killed in the operation.
Sukha and Jinda had assassinated General Vaidya in 1986 in Pune where he had settled down after his retirement. The two were later arrested and sentenced to death. Their execution was carried out on October 9, 1992 and since 1993 SGPC has been organising their death anniversary every year and honouring their kin.
The SGPC presented shiropas (the robes of honour) to Sukha’s mother Surjit Kaur and Jinda’s brother Bhupinder Singh on the occasion.
Apparently to avoid any controversy in the backdrop of the attack on Gen Brar and the widespread condemnation of it, unlike in the past, the function this year was kept a low key affair. Even the media was not allowed in and the news about honouring them spread out only the next day.

SGPC promoting backward shift
Our Punjab
Oct 11, 2012
SGPC is honoring someone who killed another. Why not they consider honoring doctors or those who saved others or show right path for a progressive Punjab? Getting back to history messed with non-reliable facts just simply put Punjab into fire. Are they planning to enliven scare wounds and keep memories of troubled past alive to kick start another era of violence and backward shift?

Why is everyone surprised SGPC''s behavior honoring terrorists when they have been honoring traitors and foreign mass killers for generations. The following happened in 1919
" Shortly after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre where thousands of innocent indians were killed in cold blood by General Dyer in 1919, the SGPC's predecessor body, the Golden Temple management, presented General Dyer a kirpan (ceremonial sword) and a siropa and deemed him an honorary Sikh, forgiving his smoking and shorn hair. . General Dyre for his brutal action at Jallianwala Bagh, Arur Singh, the government nominated sarbrah of the Golden Temple invited the General to the temple and tried to wash his blood stains by honouring him with a saropa (robe of honor) and by declaring him as Sikh. The dialogue which took place between Arur Singh( grandfather of traiter khalistanti leader Simranjit Singh Mann) and other priests at the Akal Takhat on the one hand and General Dyre on the other, is worth quoting here:
'Sahib', they said, 'you must become a Sikh. Even Nikalseyan Sahib became a Sikh.'
The General thanked them for the honor, but he objected that he could not, as a British officer, let his hair grow long.
Arur laughed, 'We will let you off the long hair,' he said.
General Dyre offered another objection, 'But I cannot give up smoking.'
'That you must do,' said Arur Singh.
'No,' said General Dyer, 'I'm sorry but I cannot give up smoking.'
The priest conceded, 'We will let you give it up gradually.'
'That I promise you,' said the General, 'at the rate of one cigarette a year.'
According to the biographer of General Dyre, the priests proceeded with the pseudo-initiation. "General Dyre and Captain Briggs were invested with the five kakars, the sacred emblems of that war-like brotherhood and so became Sikhs.".
So there you have it as history says it all what a bunch of traitors they have been all along....
