BARNALA: Criminal investigation agency (CIA) had arrested a terrorist, whose police custody has been increased by three days. Surinder Singh Thikriwala was arrested for keeping illegal weapons and supplying them to people. His aide Ramandeep Singh has been sent to judicial custody.
The duo was presented in court before CJM Rajwinder Kaur after their police remand of three days was over. A police team had accompanied them to the court, which was led by SI Baljeet Singh. He told the police that Thikriwala not only operates in India but also in other countries.
It was stated that terrorists operating abroad were giving help worth lakhs of rupees to their Indian counterparts. Following this, their bank details must be checked. The court has sent Thikriwala to police custody till September 27.
Thikriwala stated that about eight lakhs were given to him for printing controversial issues by people who are aiding terrorism from other countries, Barnala’s SSP Surjit Singh stated. Apart from this, a .12 bore pistol and bullet rounds, a computer that has controversial material, two mobile phones etc has been found with Thikriwala.
The SSP also informed that Thikriwala is in touch with Jagtar Hawara, who killed former Chief Minister Beant Singh as he had met Hawaara recently. He is also close to Kuldeep Singh Wadaa, who was arrested by the Kapurthala police. He said that Thikriwala is in close contact with Khalistan supporters living in Lebanon, Italy, Germany, Canada, America, England and Belgium through social networking sites. They are giving him lakhs of rupees for printing issues pertaining to Khalistan.
Police had registered a case against Thikriwala on September 22 for possessing illegal weapons. He and his aide were arrested on the same day from Barnala. Both were found carrying weapons and ammunition.
